About Me
Building Beyond Networking
Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm Richard, a Network Engineer from Ventura County with a background spanning enterprise networking, military communications, and IT infrastructure. These days, I'm focused on taking that foundation into Cloud and DevOps engineering.
My IT career started in the United States Marine Corps, where I served for six years and ultimately became a Sergeant (E-5) and Data Systems Supervisor. I worked with tactical and enterprise networks, supported NIPR and SIPR environments, and had the opportunity to support exercises both in the United States and overseas.
Today, I work professionally in network engineering while building hands-on with AWS, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, Python, and other cloud technologies. What originally drew me toward Cloud/DevOps was realizing how much infrastructure could be automated rather than configured manually. This portfolio is where I document that progression and, more importantly, prove what I can build.
Outside of technology, I enjoy traveling, fitness, history, and constantly learning something new. I'm usually working toward another certification, building another project, planning another trip, or convincing myself that one more AWS resource won't cost anything.
